Operational Team Performance Lab
High-Pressure Problem Solving for Operational Readiness
Overview
The Operational Team Performance Lab is a fast-paced, construction-themed simulation designed to strengthen communication, planning, and cross-functional collaboration in mission-critical environments. Built for engineering, government, and production teams, the Lab replicates real-world operational stress—requiring participants to strategize, execute precisely, and perform as a unified team.
Over a series of nine timed technical and logistical challenges, teams design and build functional solutions using constrained resources. The evolving pace and complexity of the experience reinforce key performance behaviors: role clarity, shared accountability, interdependence, and agile execution. The program also highlights the role of designated Team Leaders, who oversee time management, accountability, and inter-team coordination to ensure mission success.
Each team has individual challenges to complete—but all teams must work together toward achieving a collective point goal. This structure reinforces the importance of both unit-level execution and enterprise-wide alignment.
Program Format
Teams of 10 rotate through nine time-sensitive challenges that reflect real operational and field conditions. Each challenge emphasizes:
- Strategic Planning and Delegation
- Adaptive Resource Management
- Real-Time Communication and Coordination
- Precision Execution and Performance Assessment
Each team designates a Team Leader who does not participate in the hands-on challenges but manages execution, ensures equitable team member participation, coordinates with other team leaders, and helps track progress toward the shared overall point total. These leaders play a critical role in maintaining integrity, accountability, and communication across teams.
The session concludes with a structured, facilitator-led debrief linking learning directly to operational realities and organizational goals.

Why It Works
Operational teams don’t succeed through individual performance alone—they require cohesion, clarity, and collaboration. The Operational Team Performance Lab builds these capabilities under pressure, preparing participants to execute, lead, and coordinate as one.
Who Should Participate
Ideal for shipyard teams, engineering departments, production crews, and operational work groups. This lab is particularly effective for government teams that need to strengthen coordination, develop leadership accountability, and cultivate a ‘One Team’ mindset across units.
What Sets It Apart
This is a realistic, scenario-based performance lab that mirrors the demands of operational life. The role of Team Leader, combined with individual accountability and collective team targets, ensures learning is grounded, measurable, and directly transferable.
